Kik and WhatsApp are two of my favourite social media apps, I use them all the time on my iPad and my phone! I got Kik first. I’d been scrolling through the social media apps because I was bored of the ones I already had, I came across Kik and thought it was perfect because it was what I was looking for and it was free!
At first I was just talking to the ‘Kik Team’ which was basically an idiotic robot! Then I thought, ‘I’ll see if anyone from my primary school has it’ and they did, so now I’ve been keeping in touch with them.
I then looked for my Dad (he doesn’t live with us) because I was bored of messaging my friends. In fact, after we had a fall out this is how we started chatting again and it made it less awkward for the both of us when we met, so that is one of the reasons I’m very glad I got Kik!
I then encouraged my friends to download it, it took a bit of effort but I got there in the end!
I use WhatsApp just as much as I do Kik, I had seen it in the App Store but didn’t want to get it as you had to pay 69p for it but after more and more of my friends nagging me to get it, and when it turned out to be free on my BlackBerry, I got it.

WhatsApp is a lot like Kik, you have a display picture, you have a name and you have contacts! But it’s strange when people are like, ‘I prefer Kik, I don’t like WhatsApp’ or ‘I hate Kik, WhatsApp is so much better’.
Basically the reason that people use a social media app is because everyone else uses it, you might not like to admit it but everyone knows that’s the reason! If something isn’t what everyone else has got then no-one wants it, if everyone else has it of course you want it!
